Windows Challenge/Response Authentication

Windows Challenge/Response authentication can be used with or without Secure Sockets Layer (SSL). Windows Challenge/Response authentication uses Windows network security only, while Windows Challenge/Response using SSL uses Windows network security through an SSL-encrypted channel.

Connecting to Windows 2000 Server or Exchange

When connecting to Windows 2000 or Exchange using Windows Challenge/Response authentication, the Connect as user account is in the following format:
NT domain name\ account name
