Coexisting with Previous Versions

Exchange 2000 Knowledge Consistency Checker

After Active Directory Connector is configured to synchronize user and configuration directory information between Active Directory and more than one Exchange 5.5 site, there are two replication topologies replicating directory information to that site. One is Active Directory Connector, which replicates mail-enabled objects and configuration directory information with Active Directory. The other is Directory Replication Connector, which is configured between Exchange sites in the organization.

To avoid this duplicate replication, Exchange 2000 Knowledge Consistency Checker recognizes duplication and stops requesting replication across Directory Replication Connector. With Knowledge Consistency Checker, replication occurs only between Active Directory and the Exchange site through ADC. The Exchange 2000 server must act as the directory replication bridgehead server for the Exchange site to manage replication between sites.
