With a public store policy you can quickly apply general,
database, replication, and message and folder limits properties to
public folder stores. To create a server policy, you must display
administrative groups.
To create a public store policy:
Start System Manager: On the Start menu, point to
Programs, point to Microsoft Exchange, and then click
System Manager.
To display administrative groups, right-click the organization,
and then click Properties. On the General tab, select
Display administrative groups. You will have to exit and
restart Exchange System Manager.
Double-click Administrative Groups, and then
double-click the administrative group that you want to add a policy
to. If you do not already have a System Policies folder, you
must create one. To create a new system policies folder,
right-click the administrative group, point to New, and then
select System Policy Container.
Under the administrative group, right click System
Policies, point to New, and then select Public store
policy.
In New Policy, check the boxes of the tabs you want to
use in the policy.
In the Properties window, on the General tab,
type a policy name.
On the Details tab, use Administrative note to
add additional information.
On the General (Policy) tab, set the following options:
Click Clients support S/MIME signatures if your mail
clients are using the S/MIME standard.
Click Display plain text messages in a fixed-size font
to display variable-width message fonts in a fixed font.
On the Database (Policy) tab, set the following options:
Select a value in Maintenance interval or click
Customize to build a custom schedule graphically.
On the Replication (Policy) tab, set the following
options:
Select a value in Replication interval or click
Customize to build a custom schedule graphically.
Type a value in Replication interval for always
(minutes) to limit replication frequency.
Under Limits, type a value in Replication interval
for always (minutes) to limit the replication interval, and
then type a value Replication message size limit (KB) to
limit the messages replicated.
On the Limits (Policy) tab, set the following options:
Click Issue warning at (KB) to send a warning when the
storage space used reaches the size you specify.
Click Prohibit post at (KB) to prohibit messages over
the size you specify from posting.
Click Maximum item size (KB) to set a maximum limit for
items in the policy.
Select a value in Warning message interval or click
Customize to build a custom schedule graphically.
Use Keep deleted items for (days) to set in the maximum
number of days items can remain in the store.
Click Do not permanently delete items until the store has
been backed up to preserve items until the store is backed
up.
Click Age limit for all folders in this store (days) and
type a value.
On the Full-Text Indexing (Policy) tab, set the
following options:
Select a value in Update Interval or click
Customize to build a custom schedule graphically.
Select a value in Rebuild Interval or click
Customize to build a custom schedule graphically.
