In a moderated channel, only channel operators or speakers
(those who have been granted a 'voice') can talk. Moderated
channels are often used for chat events, both large and small.
On the Start menu, point to
Programs, point to Microsoft Exchange, and then click
System Manager.
Navigate to the
Channels folder for the chat community where you want to

Right-click the Channels folder, click New, and
then click Channel.
In the Name box, type the name of the channel. Be sure
to precede the channel name with a valid channel
prefix (#, &, %#, or %&).
On the Access tab, in Host, type a password. Each
speaker must use the Host password to join the channel.
Estimate the number of chat users that you expect to
participate, and then type that number in Number of users
allowed in channel.
On the Modes tab, in Speaking restrictions,
choose one of the following channel modes for the chat event
participants:
Moderated. A chat user joining a moderated
channel cannot post messages to the channel but can see messages
posted by the speakers (those who have been granted a 'voice').
However, a speaker, as a channel
host, can use the following command to grant speaking
permission to a specific user:
/MODEchannel_name+vnickname
Auditorium. A chat user joining an auditorium
channel can see only messages posted by the speakers. Speakers,
however, can see and send messages to any event participant on the
channel. Only the speakers, as channel hosts, are notified when
event participants join or leave an auditorium channel. Auditorium
channels are often used for large chat events.
