Creating a Word List
To filter offensive language by using the Profanity Filter
extension, you begin by creating a word list. A list can be created
for each category of message (private messages, nicknames, channel
names, and those messages sent on ), or a list can be created for each registered
channel on a chat community.
To create a list of words to be filtered:
Start System Manager
On the Start menu, point to
Programs , point to Microsoft Exchange , and then click
System Manager .
Navigate to the
IRCX folder for the server hosting the chat community where
you want to filter offensive language.

Right-click IRCX , and then click Properties .
Choose the chat community where you want to filter chats from
the list.
Click Properties , then click Extensions .
If the Profanity Filter extension does not appear in the
Extensions list, click Add .
If the Profanity Filter extension does appear, go to step 9.
In Add Extension , select the Profanity Filter extension
from the list.
Stop, then restart the
service .
Right-click IRCX , and then click Properties .
On the IRCX Protocol General tab, choose the chat
community where you want to filter chats from the list, and then
click Properties .
In Properties , click Extensions .
In Extensions , click Add .
On the community's Extensions tab, verify that the
Profanity Filter extension is selected in the window. Click
Properties .
On the Community PFilter Properties General tab, click
Edit Filters .
In Edit Filters , click Add Filter .
In Add New Filter , type a name in the Filter name
box.
Tip Give the list a name that
reflects the type of words it contains, such as
"Epithets."
Note You can also create a
filter from a chat client, using the following command:
EXTMSG PFILTER ADD LIST= filter_name
