Prevent Users from Connecting to the Service

User bans allow you to restrict access to a chat community for a specific user or group of users.

To establish a user ban:

  1. Start System Manager
On the Start menu, point to Programs, point to Microsoft Exchange, and then click System Manager.
  2. Navigate to the Bans folder for the chat community where you want to restrict access.

  4. On the ban's General tab, type the user's Nickname, User name, and Domain name or IP address.

Note   The Nickname, User name, and Domain name options accept the asterisk (*) and the question mark (?) as wildcard characters.

  5. To limit the ban to a particular time of day, in Time active, type a Start time and End time. All times are the local server time.
  6. To indicate why you are banning the user, type the reason in Reason for ban.

Tip   To ban a group of users, use Active Directory Users and Computers to create a group for users, add the group to the account, and then ban the group. For further information, refer to your Windows 2000 Server online documentation.
