Restrict Channel Access to Invited Users

A chat sysop. the channel owner, or the channel host uses the IRC Invite command to allow each user to join this type of channel.

To limit access to a registered channel to users who are explicitly invited to join the channel:

  1. Start System Manager
    On the Start menu, point to Programs, point to Microsoft Exchange, and then click System Manager.
  2. Navigate to the Channels folder for the chat community where you want to restrict channel access.

    1. Chat_community_name
    2. Channels
  3. Click the Channels folder.
  4. In the Details pane, right-click the channel to be restricted, and then click Properties, or create a registered channel.
  5. On the channel's Access tab, under Allow only, select the Invited users check box.

Note   Users who want to join an invitation-only channel must be explicitly invited. The channel owner or meeting leader uses the following command from a chat client to invite each participant:

/INVITE member channelname
