Use Uuencode

UNIX to UNIX encode (uuencode) is an application that converts a binary file into printable 7-bit ASCII characters without loss of information. This allows data, such as images or applications, to be distributed through e-mail or newsgroups.

To use uuencode:

  1. Start System Manager
    on the Start menu, point to Programs, point to Microsoft Exchange, and then click System Manager.
  2. Navigate to POP3.

  3. In the console tree, right-click a virtual server, and then click Properties.
  4. On the Message Format tab, click UUEncode.
  5. If you are supporting Macintosh clients, click Use Binhex for Macintosh.
