Start a POP3 Virtual Server

In certain situations, it may be necessary to start a virtual server manually. For example, if you stop the server for maintenance, you must restart it manually.

To start a POP3 virtual server:

1. Start System Manager
   on the Start menu, point to Programs, point to Microsoft Exchange, and then click System Manager.
2. Navigate to POP3.

   1. Administrative Groups
   2. Administrative group
   3. Servers
   4. Server
   5. Protocols
   6. POP3
3. In the console pane, check the status of the server.
4. If the server is stopped, click Start.
5. 
   
   

   Note   If the server displays one of the following options, you will need to take other action.

   • The server does not have a unique identity. If the server does not have a a unique combination of IP address and TCP port, the server cannot be started until you assign an IP address, TCP port, and SSL port.
   • The server is paused. Choose Pause again to restart the server. For more information, see Pause a POP3 Virtual Server.
