Supporting Messaging Clients

Pause a POP3 Virtual Server

Pausing a POP3 virtual server allows it to be taken out of service with minimal user disruption. While paused, the POP3 virtual server continues to support existing client connections, but refuses new client session requests. As users stop and restart their session access, they connect to alternate servers that are configured to provide POP3 access.

To pause a POP3 virtual server:

  1. Start System Manager
on the Start menu, point to Programs, point to Microsoft Exchange, and then click System Manager.
  2. Navigate to POP3.
