Supporting Messaging Clients

List All Public Folders

You can configure an IMAP4 server to list all public folders. You may not want to use this feature with clients that have problems listing a large number of folders. If you choose not to list all folders, Exchange lists only the client's private folders.

Note   Only public folders that have a replica on the user's public folder server are displayed in response to an IMAP4 LIST " "* command. If a replica does not exist on the user's public folder server, the public folder is available only to IMAP4 clients that are referral-enabled. IMAP4 clients can also access the public folders if IMAP4 servers are set up in a front-end/back-end configuration.

To list all public folders:

  1. Start System Manager
on the Start menu, point to Programs, point to Microsoft Exchange, and then click System Manager.
  2. Navigate to IMAP4.
