Create a Virtual Directory

To store news content in multiple directories, you can create virtual directories. You should always create virtual directories that match the structure of your newsgroup hierarchy. A default virtual directory is created automatically for the virtual server and a control virtual directory is created for all newsgroups. You can modify the default directories or create a new virtual directory for each newsgroup.

Tip   Virtual directories can be located on a local disk drive or on a network drive. There is no advantage to creating a virtual directory on the same physical drive as the home directory.

To create a virtual directory:

  1. Start System Manager
On the Start menu, point to Programs, point to Microsoft Exchange, and then click System Manager.
  2. Navigate to an NNTP virtual server.
