Index Newsgroups

Indexing Service can extract information from newsgroup messages and organize the information to allow users to search newsgroup articles for specific text strings. Before you enable indexing of newsgroups, you must start Indexing Service, which Windows 2000 provides. For more information on Indexing Service, see the Windows 2000 online documentation.

To enable indexing for a newsgroup:

On the Start menu, point to Programs, point to Administrative Tools, and then click Services.
  2. In the details pane, right-click Indexing Service, and then click Start if Indexing Service is not already running.
  3. Start System Manager
On the Start menu, point to Programs, point to Microsoft Exchange, and then click System Manager.
  4. Navigate to Virtual Directories.
