Create a Peer Newsfeed

You can create a peer newsfeed, or peer feed for short, to receive articles that do not have article IDs. This feed is used mainly for exchanging messages with a Usenet host. To create a peer feed, you use New NNTP Feed Wizard to define the relationship with the remote server with which you are exchanging articles.

Tip   If you are planning on using a feed with a Usenet host on your master server, contact your Internet newsfeed provider and subscribe to a Usenet newsfeed. Your provider will ask you for the IP address of the Exchange server running NNTP Service. You will need to know whether you want to use a push or pull feed for inbound and outbound messages. You will need to ask your provider for the host computer's IP address. Note that there can be multiple host computers. You need this IP address to complete New NNTP Feed Wizard.

To create a peer newsfeed:

  1. Start System Manager
On the Start menu, point to Programs, point to Microsoft Exchange, and then click System Manager.
  2. Navigate to an NNTP virtual server.

Tip   Remember that you are using the wizard to identify the remote server as a peer. When you select the Remote server role, choose Peer.
