Use Virtual Directories

A virtual directory is a public folder store that contains a portion of the newsgroup hierarchy. Virtual directories enable you to store newsgroup files on multiple disk drives. Using more than one disk drive can improve the performance of a drive that's heavily used and can provide more storage. Virtual directories also enable you to change the physical location of the directory without changing the name of the newsgroup.

For example, if you have three newsgroups that discuss the same subject, such as research, you can give each newsgroup a similar name, research.current, research.published, and research.approved. You can then create a virtual directory named Research that contains all newsgroups named research.*.
