Create Index

To use full-text indexing, create an index for a database, and then run a full population to fill the index with data.

To create an index:

  1. Start System Manager
    On the Start menu, point to Programs, point to Microsoft Exchange, and then click System Manager.
  2. Navigate to the database you want to index.

    System Manager

    1. Administrative Group or Organization
    2. Servers
    3. Storage Group
    4. Store
  3. Right-click the database, and then click Create Full-Text Index.
  4. To populate the new index, right-click the database, and then click Start Full Population.
