Connecting to Other Messaging Systems

Route Messages to Downstream Notes Domains

For the connector to route messages to downstream Notes domains, and to enable Exchange users to reply to messages sent by users in those domains, you must identify the domains as "routable domains." Any domain defined in the following Notes documents must be identified as a routable domain:

Note   Lotus Notes E-mail Address Generator, which is installed with the Notes connector, is automatically propagated to the Exchange servers in each routing group that is downstream from the connector server. This enables the connector to forward messages from Notes users to Exchange users with mailboxes on servers in these routing groups.

To enable the connector to route messages to downstream Notes domains:

  1. Start System Manager
On the Start menu, point to Programs, point to Microsoft Exchange, and then click System Manager.
  2. Navigate to Connectors.

    Organization

    1. Connectors
  3. Right-click Connector for Lotus Notes (server_name), and then click Properties.
  4. On the Advanced tab, under Routable domains, click Add.
  5. In Add Routable Domain, in Domain, type the name of each Notes domain that is not directly connected to the Exchange server running the connector. Separate each domain name with a comma.
  6. Tip   This configuration is not limited to downstream Notes domains. You can also use it to specify non-adjacent Notes domains that are accessible through Exchange servers in other Exchange organizations.

You do not need to include the local Notes domain to which the connector is connected or the foreign domain name assigned to Exchange.
