Connecting to Other Messaging Systems

Set Up the Connection to the Notes Server

The first step in configuring the connector is to specify the Lotus Notes/Domino server to which the Notes connector will connect.

Important   Before you can establish a connection to the Lotus Notes/Domino server, you must install a Notes client on the Exchange server.

To set up the connection to the Lotus Notes/Domino server:

  1. Start System Manager
On the Start menu, point to Programs, point to Microsoft Exchange, and then click System Manager.
  2. Navigate to Connectors.

    Organization

    1. Connectors
  3. Right-click Connector for Lotus Notes (server_name), and then click Properties.
  4. On the General tab, in Notes Server, type the full name of the Lotus Notes/Domino server to which you want the connector to connect. Use the Notes server/Notes organization convention.
  5. Verify that Notes INI file location displays the full path and file name of the Notes.ini file. If you need to designate a different location, click Modify.
  6. Verify that Connector Mailbox displays the name of the connector's primary mail file, Exchange.box. If you used a different name for the connector mailbox, type the new name in the text box.
  7. In Polling interval, type a new value or accept the default of 15. The polling interval specifies how often, in seconds, the connector checks its primary mail file (Exchange.box) for messages to be delivered to Exchange recipients.
  8. Verify that Notes Server language displays the operating language of the connected Lotus Notes/Domino server. The server language is used for messages that the connector inserts into a message (for example, an explanation of a non-delivery report).
