Directory Access

Automatically Create the Topology

By default, Directory Access automatically discovers servers. You do not need to perform the following procedure unless you already completed the Manually Create the Topology procedure. If you manually created the topology, setting Directory Access to automatically discover servers clears your list of manually selected servers for the type of server selected.

To automatically discover servers for each type of server in the Directory Access topology:

  1. Start System Manager
On the Start menu, point to Programs, point to Microsoft Exchange, and then click System Manager.
  2. Navigate to the server you want.

    System Manager

    1. Servers
    2. Server
  3. Right-click the server you want, and then click Properties.
  4. On the Directory Access tab, select the type of servers you want to view from the Show list.

Note   You cannot change the Automatically discover servers option when All Domain Controllers is selected in the Show list.

  5. Select Automatically discover servers.
  6. Important   Selecting Automatically discover servers clears manually selected servers from the list and replaces them with automatically discovered servers.
