Managing Recipient Settings

Assign a Value to a Custom Attribute

Exchange provides 15 custom attributes. Assigning values to the custom attributes enables you to select the recipient information you want to track. For example, if your company uses an employee identification numbering system, you can type the recipient's identification number in a custom attribute.

To assign a value to a custom attribute:

  1. Start Active Directory Users and Computers
On the Start menu, point to Programs, point to Administrative Tools, and then click Active Directory Users and Computers.
  2. In Active Directory Users and Computers, on the View menu, click Advanced Features.
  3. In the console tree, expand the Windows 2000 domain. Double-click Users, or double-click the node that contains the recipient information you want to modify.
  4. In the details pane, double-click the recipient you are modifying.
  5. On the Exchange Advanced tab, click Custom Attributes.
  6. In the Exchange Custom Attributes dialog box, select an attribute, and then click Edit.
  7. In the Custom Attributes dialog box, type a value for the custom attribute in the box.
