If a mailbox-enabled user cannot interpret HTML, select the
MIME option of Provide message body as plain text.
When this option is selected, a message body is composed of text
only. Graphics and active links are replaced with textual
representations. Character formatting, such as bold, underline, and
color is not retained.
Important
When you select the MIME option, you cannot select the
UUEncode option. When you select the MIME option of
Provide message body as plain text, you can also select the
Use Microsoft Exchange rich-text format option.
To configure POP3 settings using the plain text MIME option:
On the Start menu, point to
Programs, point to Administrative Tools, and then
click Active Directory Users and Computers.
In Active Directory Users and Computers, on the
View menu, click Advanced Features.
In the console tree, expand the Windows 2000 domain.
Double-click Users, or double-click the node that contains
the recipient information you want to modify.
In the details pane, double-click the mailbox-enabled user you
are configuring POP3 settings for.
On the Exchange Advanced tab, click Protocol
Settings.
In the Protocols dialog box, select POP3, and
then click Settings.
In the POP3 Protocol Details dialog box, select the
Enable for mailbox check box, and then click to clear the
Use protocol defaults check box.
To display received messages as plain text, under Message
encoding, select MIME, and then select Provide
message body as plain text.
In the Default character set drop-down list, select a
character set.
To display Rich Text Format, select the Use Microsoft
Exchange rich-text format check box.
Important
If you select a MIME option, you cannot select the
UUEncode or Microsoft Exchange rich-text format
options. If you select the UUEncode option or Microsoft
Exchange rich-text format check box, you cannot select a
MIME option. However, you can select the UUEncode and
Microsoft Exchange rich-text format options.
