Use Default IMAP4 Settings

When you select default IMAP4 settings, you are selecting pre-configured settings for MIME encoding, the default character set, Exchange Rich Text Format, public folders, and fast message retrieval.

To enable the default IMAP4 settings:

  1. Start Active Directory Users and Computers
    On the Start menu, point to Programs, point to Administrative Tools, and then click Active Directory Users and Computers.
  2. In Active Directory Users and Computers, on the View menu, click Advanced Features.
  3. In the console tree, expand the Windows 2000 domain. Double-click Users, or double-click the node that contains the recipient information you want to modify.
  4. In the details pane, double-click the mailbox-enabled user you want to modify.
  5. On the Exchange Advanced tab, click Protocol Settings.
  6. In the Protocols dialog box, select IMAP4, and then click Settings.
  7. In the IMAP4 Protocol Details dialog box, select the Enable for mailbox check box, and then select the Use protocol defaults check box.
  8. Note   When the Use protocol defaults check box is selected, the IMAP4 settings in the IMAP4 Protocol Details dialog box are not available.
