Use Default POP3 Settings

When you select default POP3 settings, you are selecting pre-configured settings for MIME and uuencode message encoding, the default character set, and Exchange Rich Text Format.

To enable the default POP3 settings:

  1. Start Active Directory Users and Computers
    On the Start menu, point to Programs, point to Administrative Tools, and then click Active Directory Users and Computers.
  2. In Active Directory Users and Computers, on the View menu, click Advanced Features.
  3. In the console tree, expand the Windows 2000 domain. Double-click Users, or double-click the node that contains the recipient information you want to modify.
  4. In the details pane, double-click the mailbox-enabled user you want to select default POP3 settings for.
  5. On the Exchange Advanced tab, click Protocol Settings.
  6. In the Protocols dialog box, select POP3, and then click Settings.
  7. In the POP3 Protocol Details dialog box, select the Enable for mailbox check box, and then select the Use protocol defaults check box.
  8. Note   When the Use protocol defaults check box is selected, the POP3 settings on the POP3 Protocol Details dialog box are not available.
