Define Search Filters

When you create a recipient policy, you can define the membership of the recipient policy by defining filter rules. These defined filter rules are used to search Active Directory. You can set recipient policy filter rules based on Exchange recipients, users, contacts, and groups, or you can create a custom search.

Note   If the needs of your organization change, you can modify the search filter rules that determine recipient policy membership.

To define filter rules for recipient policies:

Tip   E-mail message recipient policies and mailbox recipient policies can share the same filter. In other words, after you filter a group of users, you can apply both an e-mail address recipient policy and a mailbox recipient policy to the filtered group.
