Check the Server State

At times, you will need to check to see if an Instant Messaging server is working or offline.

To check the server state:

1. Start Internet Services Manager
   On the Start menu, point to Programs, point to Administrative Tools, and then click Internet Services Manager.
2. Go to the virtual IIS server on which the Instant Messaging server is hosted.

3. The state of the server is indicated in parentheses following the site name. (If the server is running, no state information is displayed.)

   • Paused means that the Instant Messaging server is not accepting new connections. Existing connections are not affected.
   • Stopped means that the server is no longer hosting connections and that all Internet services for the site are stopped.
