Maintaining and Troubleshooting

Use Diagnostic Logging and Event Viewer

In addition to the logs that Performance Monitor creates, you can create diagnostic logs in Exchange. If you want to view the performance of your server as your system runs or view the performance of several servers at once, you can use Windows 2000 Performance monitor. If you want to assign specific logging levels, such as Minimum, Medium, or Maximum, to further organize the information for a single server, use Exchange to record events in the Windows 2000 event log. Logging begins automatically whenever you start Exchange, and you can view logs in Event Viewer. Event Viewer maintains logs about application, security, and system events on your computer. You can use Event Viewer to view and manage event logs and gather information about hardware and software problems.
