You can use Migration Wizard to migrate mailboxes from one
Exchange 2000 organization to a separate Exchange 2000 organization
or to a new server in the same organization. This migration process
provides you with the opportunity to design a new Exchange topology
or to replace servers running Exchange in an existing topology.
The Exchange 2000 to Exchange 2000 migration is included as an
additional migration path in Migration Wizard. Using the Exchange
2000 migration functionality, you can:
Extract directory information using the Active Directory
Service Interface (ADSI) to perform a Lightweight Directory Access
protocol (LDAP) search.
Provide a user interface for common functions such as selecting
accounts, servers, and containers.
Search for matches between migrated mailboxes and user objects
based on the following attributes:
Security identifier (SID)
X500 address
msExchangeADCGlobalNames attribute
msExchangeLegacyDN attribute
Create user objects in Active Directory.
Merge contact directory information with user object
attributes, and then delete contacts.
Activate mailboxes in Exchange 2000.
Extract items from the source mailbox during migration.
