Migrating to Exchange

Migrate from Lotus cc:Mail

Migration Wizard supports Lotus cc:Mail DB6 and DB8 formats.

To migrate from Lotus cc:Mail:

  1. Reduce the amount of data to be migrated, if possible.
  2. If you are running the migration from a computer that is not hosting the Lotus cc:Mail post office, you must do one of the following:
  3. Prevent access to the Lotus cc:Mail post office by Lotus cc:Mail clients and administrator programs during migration. You must also shut down all Lotus cc:Mail router products, link products, and gateways during migration.
  4. Stop the services used by Exchange Connector for Lotus cc:Mail (if you're using it) before migrating user accounts; otherwise, after the Lotus cc:Mail accounts are migrated, they may be deleted from the Lotus cc:Mail system during directory synchronization with Active Directory. You can restart the connector after you've verified that users and their mail migrated successfully.
  5. Run Migration Wizard.
  6. If necessary, migrate cc:Mail Mobile users.
  7. Verify that the migration completed successfully before restarting the connector services.
  8. After directory synchronization, the Lotus cc:Mail Automatic Directory Exchange (ADE) propagates the new address to that user's former home post office, deleting the user from the Lotus cc: Mail system. After the Lotus cc:Mail account is deleted, the user's messages are routed automatically to the new Exchange mailbox. Note that the account and mailbox names must be the same to successfully reroute messages between the two systems.

The Lotus cc:Mail administrator must ensure that ADE has successfully propagated the new address prior to resuming normal delivery of e-mail to the user's former home post office. You can also use the Lotus cc:Mail Admin or Import utilities to manually modify the migrated user's address.
