Managing Public Folders

Set up the Replication Service

To set up the inter-organizational replication service, use a utility to install the configuration file and specify the domain account name. You can then start the service from the same utility. You can also use Service Control Manager to start the replication service.

To install and start the replication service:

  1. Double-click the Exssrv.exe program saved on the publisher or subscriber server.
  2. Click Install.
  3. Type a domain account for the service to start. This can be the publisher or subscriber Windows 2000 domain account (for example, <domainname>\<username>). Typically, Replication Agent is in the same domain as the publisher.
  4. Type a password for the account.
  5. Type the path and file name of the configuration file you created.
  6. Specify if you want automatic service startup when the computer starts up.
  7. Exit the utility, and then double-click the utility to run it again.
  8. Click Start to run the service.

Note  For each mailbox on the source server that you want to replicate free and busy information to, a corresponding custom recipient must exist on the destination server. The unique key that matches mailbox to custom recipient is the SMTP address of the mailbox, so these SMTP addresses must be identical.
