Queue Viewer

View Message Subjects

By default, the Subject column is left blank in the details pane when you enumerate messages in a queue. This takes care of confidentiality concerns, for example, when Exchange organizations prefer to keep low-level administrators from viewing message subjects.

Note   The subject lines of messages can only be seen in SMTP and MAPI queues.

The following procedure describes how to make message subjects visible when messages are viewed inside queues. Remember that turning this feature on will also enable subject logging in the Message Tracking Center.

To view message subjects:

  1. Start System Manager
On the Start menu, point to Programs, point to Microsoft Exchange, and then click System Manager.
  2. Navigate to the appropriate Exchange server.
    1. Servers
    2. server
  3. Right-click the server, and then click Properties.
  4. On the General tab, select Enable subject logging and display.

Note   If the checkbox is unavailable, there is a server policy object applied to this server, and you will have to perform this procedure on the policy object. To see which policies are applied to this server, click the Policies tab. See Manage System Policies for more information.
