Configure Incoming Connections

When you configure the SMTP virtual server, you designate the TCP port that the virtual server uses to receive incoming messages.

To configure incoming connections:

  1. Start System Manager
    On the Start menu, point to Programs, point to Microsoft Exchange, and then click System Manager.
  2. Navigate to the SMTP virtual server.

  3. Right-click the SMTP virtual server, and then click Properties.
  4. On the General tab, set the following options.
Option Description
Limit number of connections to Specifies the number of concurrent connections for incoming message delivery. If the check box is not selected, no limit is imposed. When the check box is selected, the minimum is 1 connection.
Connection time-out (minutes) Specifies the time allowed before an inactive connection is closed. The default is 10 minutes.
