Enable Logging in an ODBC Format

To use this option, you must specify the database you want to be logged to, and set up the database to receive the logging data.

To enable logging that uses the ODBC format:

Note   Before you enable logging that uses ODBC logging format, you will need to set up an ODBC-compliant database.

  1. Start System Manager
    On the Start menu, point to Programs, point to Microsoft Exchange, and then click System Manager.
  2. Navigate to the SMTP virtual server.

    5. SMTP virtual servers
    6. SMTP virtual server
  3. Right-click the SMTP virtual server, and then click Properties.
  4. On the General tab, select Enable logging.
  5. Under Active log format, click ODBC Logging, and then click Properties.
  6. In ODBC Logging Properties, in ODBC Data Source Name (DSN), provide a Data Source Name (DSN) (see your Windows 2000 online documentation for more information).
  7. In Table, type the name of the ODBC table you created.
  8. If you need to supply a user name and password to access the database, type them in the appropriate fields.
