Pause an SMTP Virtual Server

You can pause an SMTP virtual server for configuration changes and maintenance. Pausing a virtual server prevents new client connections, but enables the virtual server to continue processing existing client connections and delivering queued messages.

To pause an SMTP virtual server:

  1. Start System Manager
    On the Start menu, point to Programs, point to Microsoft Exchange, and then click System Manager.
  2. Navigate to the SMTP virtual server.

    2. Server
    3. Protocols
    4. SMTP
    5. SMTP virtual servers
    6. SMTP virtual server
  3. Right-click the virtual server, and then click Pause.

Note   To restart the virtual server, repeat Step 3.
