Managing Servers With System Manager

System Manager is a Microsoft Management Console (MMC) file named Exchange System Manager.msc. It is available on the Start menu from the Microsoft Exchange program group. It provides a graphical two-pane view of Exchange objects with a console tree on the left and a details pane on the right. You can view context menus for each object by right-clicking the object. You can move some objects with a drag and drop operation.

Managing Domain Controllers

By default, System Manager binds to the first available domain controller located on the network. You can override the default domain controller by adding the Exchange System snap-in to an MMC console. You will be prompted to specify a domain controller.

This can be useful in the following scenarios:

To bypass Active Directory replication latency; the delay between the time updates are applied to different replicas.
To connect to a specific domain in the Windows 2000 forest.
To connect to different domain controllers in different forests.
