Managing Exchange Servers

Set General Properties

You can use the General tab of the Properties dialog box to set miscellaneous properties for the server.

To set general properties:

  1. Start System Manager
    On the Start menu, point to Programs, point to Microsoft Exchange, and then click System Manager.
  2. Navigate to the server container in the console tree.

  3. Right-click the server, and then click Properties.
  4. Click the General tab.
  5. To log all messages to the message-tracking log file, click Enable message tracking. You can view the messages with Message Tracking Center.
  6. To log message subjects to the message tracking log file, click Enable subject logging and display. You can view the messages with Message Tracking Center.
  7. To automatically remove log files, click Remove log files. This is enabled by default and set to seven days.
  8. To make the server a front-end server, click This is a front-end server.
  9. To enable error reporting, select the Automatically send fatal service error information to Microsoft check box. With this feature selected, if a fatal error occurs, the server sends an error report to Microsoft over a secure (https) connection. To disable error reporting, clear the check box.
  10. Note    To send reports, the server must have HTTP access to the Internet.
