The X.400 service message transfer agent (MTA) provides
addressing and routing information for sending messages from one
server to another. The X.400 stack is conceptually equivalent to
the virtual servers of other protocols and is functionally
equivalent to Microsoft Message Transfer Agent (MTA) in Exchange
5.x.
The X.400 service message transfer agent properties enable you
to set the default X.400 service attributes for X.400 connectors;
for example, you can:
Specify the local X.400 name and password.
Configure Reliable Transfer Service (RTS) values that determine
message reliability parameters, association parameters that
determine the number and duration of connections to the remote
system, and connection retry values that determine how often and
how long the system tries to connect or transfer messages before
sending a non-delivery report (NDR).
Specify transfer timeouts that determine the amount of time the
system waits before issuing an NDR for messages of different
priorities.
