Set X.400 Association Parameters

Association parameters determine the number and duration of connections to the remote system. The X.400 service MTA properties enable you to set the default X.400 service attributes, such as association parameters, for X.400 connectors.

To set X.400 association parameters:

  1. Start System Manager
On the Start menu, point to Programs, point to Microsoft Exchange, and then click System Manager.
  2. Navigate to the X.400 container in the console tree.

  5. Under Association Parameters, modify the Lifetime (sec) value, which is the amount of time in seconds the system keeps an association open to a remote system after a message is sent.
  6. Modify the Disconnect (sec) value, which is the amount of time in seconds the system waits before terminating a connection because of a previously terminated association.
  7. Modify the Threshold (messages) value, which is the maximum number of queued messages the system can send to a remote system. When this is exceeded, the MTA opens another association.
