Troubleshooting

IMAP4 Issues

This section explains how to identify and resolve problems your users may encounter when connecting to an Internet Mail Access Protocol version 4 (IMAP4) virtual server. Clients use IMAP4 to read e-mail or access public folders stored on a server. Use the following information to learn more about the problems you may encounter and how to resolve them.

What problem are you having?

When an IMAP4 client attempts to connect to an IMAP4 virtual server, the following error occurs: Mail ID invalid or not unique, cannot resolve to directory authorization entry.

Cause

This error occurs because the IMAP4 client is not configured to resolve sender or recipient names stored in Active Directory.

Solution
Enable anonymous Lightweight Directory Access Protocol (LDAP) access to allow the IMAP4 client to retrieve e-mail from the IMAP4 virtual server. For more information, see the IMAP4 client documentation.
