This section explains how to identify problems that may occur when you are managing e-mail address types for the recipients in your organization. Use the following information to learn more about the problems you may encounter and how to resolve them.

What problem are you having?

My organization uses multiple e-mail address types but only X.400 and Simple Mail Transfer Protocol (SMTP) addresses are being generated for my recipients.

Cause
In Exchange 2000, only SMTP and X.400 addresses are generated by default. SMTP and X.400 addresses are an integral part of Exchange 2000 and cannot be disabled.
