The Microsoft® Exchange Server Analyzer Tool reads the following registry entry to determine the value set on the Rootver key for ASP.NET:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\ASP.NET
The Exchange Server Analyzer displays an error if the following conditions exist:
- The Exchange Server Analyzer finds that the Rootver
value is set to 0.0.0.0.
- The Cluster service is running.
Sometimes ASP.NET Setup fails without providing a notification of the failure. In these cases, the Rootver key is set to 0.0.0.0. Setting the Rootver value to 0.0.0.0 causes the Microsoft Exchange System Attendant service or other Exchange Server services to fail to start on Exchange Server 2003 and Exchange Server 2007 clusters. You must correct this error by setting the Rootver value to one of the following:
- Exchange Server 2003 Rootver key = 1.1.4322.0.
- Exchange Server 2007 Rootver key = 2.0.50727.0
