The Microsoft® Exchange Server Analyzer Tool queries the Active Directory® directory service to determine whether the msExchAgingKeepTime attribute has been set. This attribute represents the time value used to determine when to remove indexes, views, and categorizations. If the Exchange Server Analyzer finds that this attribute is set, a non-default configuration message is displayed.
Indexes used for views that are created in Exchange database tables by an Exchange client that have not been used for a specific time are cleaned up at this time. The msExchAgingKeepTime attribute specifies the minimum index age before it is deleted. The default value in the original release version of Exchange 2000 Server was eight days. In Service Pack 1 (SP1) for Exchange 2000 Server, and in all subsequent versions of Exchange Server, including Exchange Server 2003 and Exchange Server 2007, the default value is 40 days.
Caution: |
---|
If you incorrectly modify the attributes of Active Directory objects when you use Active Directory Service Interfaces (ADSI) Edit, the LDP (ldp.exe) tool, or another Lightweight Directory Access Protocol (LDAP) version 3 client, you may cause serious problems. These problems may require that you reinstall Microsoft Windows Server™ 2003, Exchange Server 2003 or Exchange Server 2007, or both. Modify Active Directory object attributes at your own risk. |
