During the installation of Microsoft Exchange Server, the Microsoft Exchange Best Practices Analyzer performs the following operations:
- It determines whether Exchange Server 2010 is being
installed.
- It examines the Windows registry to determine whether the base
operating system is Windows Server 2008 or Windows Server 2008
R2.
- It examines the registry to determine the edition of Windows on
which Exchange is being installed.
If the Exchange Best Practices Analyzer determines that Exchange 2010 is being installed on a computer that is running Windows Web Server 2008 or Windows Web Server 2008 R2, the tool generates the following error message:
This computer is running Windows Web Server 2008 or Windows Web Server 2008 R2. Exchange Server 2010 is not supported on this operating system. |
Exchange 2010 is not supported on computers that are running Windows Web Server 2008 or Windows Web Server 2008 R2.
To work around this issue, install Exchange 2010 on a computer that is running one of the following operating systems:
- Windows Server 2008 Standard
- Windows Server 2008 Standard R2
- Windows Server 2008 Enterprise
- Windows Server 2008 Enterprise R2
- Windows Server 2008 Datacenter
- Windows Server 2008 Datacenter R2
