The Microsoft® Exchange Server Analyzer Tool queries the Active Directory® directory service to determine the number of routing groups in the Exchange Server organization. The Exchange Server Analyzer also queries Active Directory to determine the number of Active Directory sites that have Exchange servers that are running Microsoft Exchange 2000 Server or Microsoft Exchange Server 2003.
The Exchange Server Analyzer categorizes the Exchange organization as a complex Exchange organization if the following conditions are true:
- More than one Active Directory forest exists.
- Microsoft Identity Integration Server (MIIS) is installed on
one or more forests.
Of the four defined organization models for Microsoft Exchange Server 2007, the complex Exchange organization is the only model that includes multiple Active Directory forests or the use of synchronization technology.
