The Microsoft Exchange Server Analyzer Tool queries the Active Directory directory service to determine the value of the serialNumber attribute for all objects that have an object class of msExchExchangeServer. The table below contains a key to the attribute values.
Value contains | The computer is running |
---|---|
Version 5.5 |
Microsoft Exchange Server 5.5 |
Version 6.0 |
Microsoft Exchange 2000 Server |
Version 6.5 |
Microsoft Exchange Server 2003 |
Version 8.0 |
Microsoft Exchange Server 2007 |
The Exchange Analyzer then queries the Active Directory directory service to determine the value for the distinguishedName attribute of all objects with a class of msExchPublicMDB. Objects with this class are public folder databases.
If the Exchange Server Analyzer determines that all of the following conditions are true, the Exchange Server Analyzer displays a warning:
- There are both Exchange 2007 servers and Exchange
Server 2003 servers in the Exchange organization.
- There are no Exchange 2007 public folder databases in the
environment.
- This warning means the current Exchange environment is not
configured to support the sharing and replication of free/busy
information or the generation of the offline address book (OAB)
versions for messaging clients running Office Outlook 2003 Service
Pack 2 (SP2) or earlier.
- At least one Exchange 2007 public folder database is required
to support the sharing and replication of free/busy information and
the generation of the OAB for messaging clients running Office
Outlook 2003 Service Pack 2 (SP2) or earlier.
- To address this issue, create an Exchange 2007 public folder
database and then configure it for the sharing and replication of
free/busy information with other public folder databases in the
environment.
