The Microsoft® Exchange Server Analyzer Tool queries the Active Directory® directory service to return a list of the domains in the forest. The Exchange Server Analyzer also queries the msExchangeDomainLink attribute for a list of existing domain Recipient Update Service (RUS) instances. The Exchange Server Analyzer then compares the list of domains returned with the list of RUS instances returned and determines whether there is a match. The Exchange Server Analyzer displays an error if the following conditions are true:
- A domain exists
- An RUS instance does not exist for that domain
This Exchange Server Analyzer displays this error if the domain has been prepared by using DomainPrep but no RUS instance for the domain exists. A mismatch can occur in scenarios where an administrator adds a new Active Directory domain to the forest, prepares the domain for Exchange using DomainPrep, but then forgets to add a RUS instance for the domain. If this behavior occurs, new user objects created in the domain will not receive e-mail addresses issued to them. If you receive this error message, create a new Recipient Update Service for the domain.
To correct this error-
Open Exchange System Manager.
-
Expand Recipients.
-

-
In the New Object window, click Browse to locate the name of the domain.
-
Select the name of the domain and then click OK.
-
In the New Object, window click Next and then Finish.
