The Microsoft® Exchange Server Analyzer Tool queries the Active Directory® directory service to determine the value of the versionNumber attribute for each Exchange Server object. The versionNumber attribute represents the version of Exchange Server that is running on the computer.

The Exchange Server Analyzer also queries the CIM_Datafile Microsoft Windows® Management Instrumentation (WMI) class to determine the value of the Version key for the STORE.EXE process. If the Exchange Server Analyzer determines that the Version key for STORE.EXE has a value greater than 4416 and less than or equal to 6249, a warning is displayed.

This warning indicates that the Exchange Server computer is not running the latest available code for the version of Exchange running on the computer.

To correct this warning

  1. Download Exchange 2000 Server Service Pack 3 (http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?LinkId=17058).

  2. Review the Exchange 2000 Server Service Pack 3 Deployment Guide (http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?LinkId=12337).

  3. Download the latest update (August 2004) (http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?LinkId=33457).

  4. Review the latest update information by reviewing the Microsoft Knowledge Base article 870540, "Availability of the August 2004 Exchange 2000 Server Post-Service Pack 3 Update Rollup" (http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?linkid=3052&kbid=870540).

  5. Take a complete backup of the Exchange Server computer.

  6. Apply Exchange 2000 Server Service Pack 3.

  7. Apply the August 2004 update.
