The Microsoft® Exchange Server Analyzer Tool queries the Active Directory® directory service for the name (cn) of each directory object that has an object class of msExchExchangeServer to determine whether there is a match for the user-specified Exchange gateway server.
The cn value is a string that contains the short name of the Exchange Server computer.
If the Exchange Server Analyzer cannot find a cn value match for the user-specified Exchange gateway server in the Active Directory, the Exchange Server Analyzer displays an error.
This error indicates that one of the following conditions is true:
- The user-specified Exchange gateway server does not exist in
the local Exchange Server organization.
- The user-specified Exchange gateway server was incorrectly
entered.
To address this error, verify the specified Exchange gateway server was entered correctly and retry the operation.
Caution: |
---|
If you incorrectly modify the attributes of Active Directory objects when you use Active Directory Service Interfaces (ADSI) Edit, the LDP (ldp.exe) tool, or another Lightweight Directory Access Protocol (LDAP) version 3 client, you may cause serious problems. These problems may require that you reinstall Microsoft Windows Server™ 2003, Exchange Server 2003, or both. Modify Active Directory object attributes at your own risk. |
-
Using ADSI Edit or a similar tool, locate the server object in Active Directory.
The CN attribute can be found at:
Copy Code CN=Configuration,CN=Services,CN=Microsoft Exchange,CN=Organization,CN=Administrative Groups,CN=Administrative group,CN=Servers,CN=Server.
