The Microsoft Exchange Analyzer Tool queries the Active Directory directory service for the value of any object of the msExchAdminGroupContainer class in the Exchange organization that contains the Exchange Server 2007 specific Administrative Group identifier, FYDIBOHF23SPDLT.

If the Exchange Analyzer determines that there is an Exchange Server 2007 administrative group in the Exchange organization, the Exchange Analyzer then queries all Active Directory sites in the organization for the value of the msExchCurrentServerRoles attribute for each msExchExchangeServer object to determine whether there is a Mailbox server role installed in any of the sites found.

Finally, if the Exchange Analyzer determines that there is a Mailbox server role installed in a site, the Exchange Analyzer queries the msExchCurrentServerRoles attribute of each msExchExchangeServer object in that site to determine whether there is also a Client Access server role installed in that same site.

If the Exchange Analyzer determines that there is a Mailbox server role installed in an Active Directory site that has no Client Access server role installed, the Exchange Analyzer displays a warning.

This warning indicates that, although there is a Mailbox server role installed in the Active Directory site, Microsoft Office Outlook Web Access and Exchange ActiveSync mobile device access clients will be unable to access their mail on that Mailbox server until at least one Client Access server role is installed in the site.

The Client Access server role accepts connections to the Exchange 2007 server from a variety of different clients. Software clients such as Microsoft Outlook Express and Eudora use POP3 or IMAP4 connections to communicate with the Exchange server. Hardware clients, such as mobile devices, use ActiveSync, POP3, or IMAP4 to communicate with the Exchange server.

If users access their Inbox by using any client other than Microsoft Outlook, you must install the Client Access server role in the Exchange organization.

To address this warning, if you have clients other than those using Microsoft Outlook that have to access mailboxes, install the Client Access server role in the sites that have a Mailbox server role installed.
