The Microsoft® Exchange Server Analyzer Tool queries the Win32_SCSIController Microsoft Windows® Management Instrumentation (WMI) class to determine the value for the Name key. If the value for the Name key equals Compaq HSV110CCL, this indicates that at least one disk volume on the server is being presented by an HP EVA Storage Area Network (SAN).
The Exchange Server Analyzer also queries the Win32_Service WMI class to determine the value of the Started key for the HP StorageWorks Command View EVAPerf (EVSPDCS) service. A value of False indicates that the service is not running. A value of True indicates that the service is running.
The Exchange Server Analyzer displays a best practice recommendation if both of the following conditions exist:
- At least one disk volume on the server is being presented by an
HP EVA SAN.
- The HP StorageWorks Command View EVAPerf (EVSPDCS) service is
not present or running.
HP provides a free-of-charge software management application that publishes additional performance counters for HP StorageWorks SANs. Administrators can use this software management application to monitor the performance of individual controllers and physical disks in the SAN.
To follow the recommended best practice-
Go to the HP StorageWorks Command View EVAPerf Software Web site to download the HP Command View EVAPerf application (http://h20000.www2.hp.com/bizsupport/TechSupport/DriverDownload.jsp?pnameOID=471498&locale=en_US&taskId=135&prodSeriesId=471497&prodTypeId=12169&swEnvOID=1005).
