The Microsoft® Exchange Server Analyzer Tool reads the following registry entry to determine whether debugging has been enabled on the Microsoft Exchange Information Store:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\CurrentControlSet\Services\MSExchangeIS\ParametersSystem\AssertOnEvent

If the Exchange Server Analyzer finds that a value has been set for AssertOnEvent, the Exchange Server Analyzer displays a warning.

The AssertOnEvent registry value holds decimal values that specify which store events should trigger the debug mode of the Microsoft Exchange Information Store. The AssertOnEvent registry fires only when the debug version of store.exe is running. The Microsoft Exchange Information Store uses many resources when it runs in debug mode. It is not a best practice to debug the store in a production environment.

Unless you are actively troubleshooting an Exchange Information Store issue with the aid of Microsoft Product Support Services, you should delete the AssertOnEvent registry value.

To delete the AssertOnEvent registry key

1. Open a registry editor, such as Regedit.exe or Regedt32.exe.

2. Navigate to: HKLM\System\CurrentControlSet\Services\MSExchangeIS\ParametersSystem

3. In the right pane, locate and delete the AssertOnEvent value.

4. Close the registry editor, and restart the Microsoft Exchange Information Store service for the change to take effect.
